Homemade Acai (Açaí) Bowls

Acai bowls only sound fancy. In reality, Brazilians famously eat is as part of a cheap light, delicious flavor packed breakfast or snack. We know-- this is hard to believe especially since a GOOD Acai bowl in New York City will cost you upwards of $10-$12.

- Acai berries are native to South America and are packed with healthy antioxidants.

I’ll show you how to make a quick Acai bowl, with whatever healthy ingredients you have on hand!

Ingredients we used:

1 packet frozen, unsweetened Acai (Trader Joe’s)

¼ cup of frozen mangos

1 frozen banana, chopped

¼ cup of frozen blueberries

1 teaspoon of Agave or honey

2 tablespoons of greek yogurt

¼ cup of milk

*Note: Use any type of non-dairy milk you’d to replace the yogurt and make your bowl vegan!

Toppings we used:

1 kiwi, peeled and sliced thin

Coconut flakes

Chia seeds

Freeze dried raspberries

Banana

Dragon fruit

Instructions:

Blend together the acai packet, frozen fruit, agave, yogurt and milk until all ingredients are mixed well. Do not blend for too long after the ingredients are combined or else they will melt!

Spread the mixture into a bowl

Top it with your favorite toppings! We recommend fresh fruit, dried fruit, chia seeds, granola and nuts. Feel free to get fancy with how you cut the fruit (like we did with the dragon fruit).

Enjoy! Caution: You may feel like your acai bowl is too pretty to eat! ;)
